Guess What I'm Listening To RIGHT NOW!!!?...

Special thanks to my girlfriend, Yugi, for this. I'll let you know how it is. If people leave comments and want to hear it bad enough (who knows, it could just be me), I will stream the finer points of the album through SEXYBLACK'S RANDOM ACTS.

UPDATE:    This is a SOLID album.  These guys still sound so AMAZING.  The album starts very strong and stays that way until the last two tracks (something crazy happens there).  Still this album is a welcome entry into the top 10 of the year so far (it is a better listen than Usher.)  There are a few Dru Hill classics.  Mainly BACK TO THE FUTURE (this song is tied with Usher's "There Goes My Baby" for Song of the year so far).  And Dru Hill have RE-MADE, and MADE BETTER Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants To Rule The World".  If these two songs get the single treatment, DRU HILL is inevitably BACK!!!  Let's see what happens.  InDruPendence Day is slated for release at the end of May.  Stay tuned.

SEXYBLACK'S RANDOM ACTS PLAYLIST BREAKDOWN

You may have noticed that I have switched up the amazing selections featured above in SEXYBLACK'S RANDOM ACTS. Last time I just threw it up there. I'm sure some of you may have been wondering what you were listening to. This time, I'ma break it down for you:

  • Something by Musiq Soulchild -- This is a beautiful rendition of the Beatles track by the same name.  I love the purity of the original but the smoothness of Musiq's take on it gets me everytime.
  • River by Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae -- This is a wonderful Joni Mitchell remake taken from the multi-Grammy winning project by Herbie Hancock where he re-interpreted several Joni Mitchell songs.  Joni's lyrics are timeless, and Corinne's delivery is sweet and just right.
  • Back In The Day by Wayne Brady -- Yes, that Wayne Brady.  Two years ago, Wayne Brady surprised us with an amazing R&B album, it was in my top 10 of the year.  This song is a fun throw back to the 30 somethings out there.  He actually says "Thundercats, HO!" on this track!
  • Keep On by R.L. (from Next) -- It almost seems like R.L. has a new joint on the web every week.  They are all really good, this guy needs a solo deal like yesterday.  On the news front, there have been several new Next songs leaked lately.  Look out for a rebirth.
  • For You by R. Kelly -- This joint is a throwback to R.'s 2nd and probably best album, 12 Play.  This is one of my favorites.
  • Sensitivity by Ralph Tresvant -- Those who knew me in high school, know that this was my signature song.  Some even called me Mr. Sensitivity, for all the good reasons, not the bad ones.  Ralph Tresvant's first solo foray away from New Edition was his best.  The smoothness of this song became how I fashioned myself, and the kind of gentleman I wanted to be.
  • If I Were You by Tamia -- This is an amazing song that showed up on a movie soundtrack a couple years ago.  Tamia shines as usual while warning a potential lover to stay away from her damaged heart.  Whenever she sings you can feel what she's singing, that's what I love about her.
  • Her Heart by Anthony Hamilton -- This tender ballad from Anthony's most recent release, The Point of It All, speaks of the kind of forever love that will stick by you, through whatever may come.  "Her Heart won't let me leave her."  I dare you not to feel this one.
  • Open Arms by Boyz II Men -- Boyz II Men returned late last year with Love, an album of remade love songs.  This is a classic love song that got the Boyz II Men treatment.  Although this track is amazing, it's not even the best of them.  I may post a few more later on.
Maybe with this context, you might enjoy SEXYBLACK'S RANDOM ACTS more.  Feel free to leave me a comment sharing some of your personal memories or feelings about these tracks, old and new, and maybe get a request in there.  If it's hot, and I got it, it may appear.

The 1st Televised Performance by The Queen Project (Deborah Cox, Kelly Price, Tamia)

This performance was a little rough around the edges, but it was still good to see Tamia (my personal favorite) do her thing again with fellow Canadian Deborah Cox, and Kelly Price. Currently, The Queen Project, with their mandate to empower women, and to help them treat themselves like the Queens they are, are currently touring and doing festivals. They have recorded several songs with Shep Crawford ("Me", "Stranger In My House", "The Way You Love Me") who is responsible for Tamia's EXCELLENT Between Friends album (if you don't have this album, get it). They are currently shopping the project around to labels so that it can get to us. Labels, I don't really get what the problem is here if there is one. Three amazing singers form supergroup. Um, where do I sign... or in the consumer's case, buy? Until the labels get their ish together, unless you can catch The Queen Project in concert, which would be amazing, this will have to do. Enjoy.

Resurrection -- Kenna feat. Lupe Fiasco for Haiti -- Beautiful Video

Quddus says if you download this song HERE the proceeds will go to the relief effort in Haiti.  Sniped from theqside.com.

SEXYBLACK INTRO: B.o.B. feat. Bruno Mars -- Nothing On You

My man, Q, caught up with these guys during their video shoot for their new SUPERHOT single, "Nothing On You".  The song has grabbed CRAZY radio adds in the last three weeks, and you heard it from SEXYBLACK:  This is going to number 1.  Or at least be in the top 3 in a matter of weeks.  Remember where you saw these guys first... or second (props to Quddus and theqside.com for this.)  If you haven't heard this song yet, don't worry, you will.

SEXYBLACK EXCLUSIVE: Lady Gaga (yes, you read right) & Beyonce: Telephone (Explicit Version) N-Quite-S-F-W (but must be seen)

BEYONCE, I turn my back on you for 5 seconds!!!!

I have no words for this.  On one hand, I am excited that the Music Video is back.  This piece was thrilling and full of life.  On the other side, I'm a little shocked.  But I gotta give Gaga props.  She is following Madonna's Blueprint to a tee.  I hate to admit it, but I think she's here to stay.
