SEXYBLACK Talk Back -- Fourth Quarter Review

This just arrived in my inbox:

 Hello, Mr SexyBack,

First off, thank you for bringing sexy blogs back. I appreciate it. If you don’t mind, I would like to get right down to the point: Where the #$@% is your fourth quarter album review?

Yours pissed,

Ms. Done-waiting-for-fourth-quarter-album-review.

Well, um, although your tone leaves something to be desired, Ms. Done..., I was under the impression that there was a very low demand for The Fourth Quarter Review this year, so I have not prepared it... YET.  If other bloggers or even FBers show any interest in the Review, it will be done, EXCLUSIVELY for Sugar Beats.  However, although the response was okay last year, this year, it seems to have wained a bit.  Like I said, though, demand brings results.  Regardless, top album of the year will be revealed by the end of the year as well as some Grammy and Oscar related polls for our followers to participate in.  Some feedback (letting me know what you'd like to see) would be welcome as it seems that this project may not be garnishing the type of attention that I thought it might.

Sexyblack's Sugar Beats Now in 2D!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

My gift to you?  Look above the Michael Jackson picture on the right side of the page...

...that's right, imbedded for your listening pleasure... All Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, all the time, COMMERCIAL FREE.  (It should Autoplay, so bring your volume down before you go to the site).  Remember, educate, enjoy.  All his biggest hits, all the other songs, and some other rare gems that I guarantee you have NEVER heard before.

You're welcome.

Blogging with SexyBlack 101

Feedback has been given on this blog, and I've come up with a few suggestions to make SexyBlack's Sugar Beats even better and more interactive.

Unfortunately, I cannot produce dialogue boxes like Facebook employs for people to write visible comments, but that doesn't mean that I don't welcome them, I do, alot.  Feedback from you will only help this blog to be better for everyone.  That being said, here are some things we can both do to make this project more interactive:

  1. Any posts that you'd like to comment on, simply click "COMMENTS" underneath it.  I will see it and I will respond and all comments on the subject will be visible to you.  Others who have left comments before you will also see what you have to say.  So we can have some dialogue on some or all of the posted topics.  This would also be the perfect place to let me know what kinds of posts you would like to see:  ie. Architecture, cool gadgets, fashion, TV, movie trailers, Celebrity News/Gossip, Music Industry inside information, etc.  Things that you'd like to get and see first on SexyBlack's Sugar Beats before most other blogs have them.  Let's try to keep the criticism on the constructive side.
  2. Too busy to respond?  Doesn't mean you can't give some form of quick feedback to let me know if you're feeling the post/type of post that I've put up.  You can actually help me form the content that you see.  This blog may belong to me, but it's for everybody.  Underneath the "COMMENTS" link, there are Reaction buttons you can click and let me know how you feel about what I've posted (it's similar to Facebook's "Like" component, but better).  Your current options are:  Funny; Interesting; Cool; Crappy; and Do Better, Curtis.  Let me know how you feel, also you can see how other people feel about something which may persuade you to check it out.
  3. Finally, if there's a question you'd like to post and have answered like in the previous post, you can hit me here, and send an email to me.  I will review it and either post a response, or if more appropriate, I will send you a personal response directly.
Together, we can achieve a better SexyBlack's Sugar Beats.  A place... (queue the music)... where we can all come, share, and build a community of cool, sexy, opinion leaders who's mandate it is to change the world in the name of progression and all things cool... to be ever moving forward in a world that wants to push us back sometimes... To..., I think you get the point.  Tabernacle.

Most importantly Sexyblack's Sugar Beats is nothing without eyes and ears.  Please tell everyone you know about this blog.  To the right, there is an opportunity for you to link this blog to your Facebook wall.  Soon, every post will be able to be shared individually through Facebook and Twitter.

I promise you nothing but the hot ish everyday all day, but this blog can only go as far as you and I take it.  With feedback from you (keep in mind, I also welcome, and will post any cool posts or ideas that ANY of you may have), this can become OUR blog, because like me, it is nothing... without you.

SEXYBLACK Talk Back -- Christmas Music Links

Hey everyone, I recently received a letter through email and I'd like to share it with you:
Hey SexyBlack,

My name is Chris Morgan, CEO of Elevations, a company focused on all-around style enhancement.  Anyway, I'm sitting at my desk, and am now ready to dive fully into the Christmas spirit!  My Christmas spirit revolves around the music of the season, specifically the R&B world's take on it.  I was wondering if you can hit me up with a few links for streaming the best of the best holiday music for my listening pleasure at work.  Got any suggestions, oh wise SexyBlack?

SHAMELESS PLUG:  Oh and by the way, look out for the launch of Elevations on-line suite (website, facebook, twitter, blogspot) just in time for Christmas!  When the Elevator doors open, so will the endless opportunities to increase your style footprint on the world!

Elevations... "when you're ready for that NEXT level."
Well, Chris, that is a wonderful question.  I've provided some links below that may interest you.  Christmas Music, in general, tends to be very generic, and to mostly suck.  You have to know where to look.  Urban Christmas music tends to be the only bearable form because of the elevated performance factor of some of your favorite Christmas Classics.  Here are a few links that I frequent in the month of December to get my Sexyblack Christmas on:

Enjoy and Happy Soulful Holidays

SexyBlack

P.S.:  Good luck with Elevations, I look forward to a great year for you.  For everyone else, look out for bi-weekly Style contributions to SexyBlack's Sugar Beats from Elevations in Style, bringing the fashion game to the SexyBlack world... stay tuned.

Will, Jada, and President Obama were together at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration in Europe, and they sat down for a quick interview.  As my man Quddus calls it, this is Epic.  Spotted at http://www.theqside.com/.  Part 2 after the jump.

One Year and Counting...

Official Movie Poster after the jump...

Don't get it twisted...

...I love me some Glee, but does this guy have a point?  Review and discuss...

Is Glee a Little Bit Racist?
After this week’s fall finale, Glee is taking a hiatus until April. Seems like plenty of time for a little sensitivity training.

Glee is a frothy little show. It’s got spunk. The musical numbers are cheesy and fun. The cast is generally game for the kitsch and capable of carrying the story on those occasions when the scripts call for a bit more. Though it is not as funny as it thinks it is, there’s still enough humor to get a couple of genuine chuckles each hour.

But there is a problem in Glee-ville. What’s the best way to put this? In keeping with the let’s-put-on-a-show attitude, allow me to paraphrase a song from the great off-Broadway musical, Avenue Q.

Everyone’s a little bit racist. And so is Glee.

The odd thing is that Glee is probably among the most racially diverse shows on TV right now. There are 12 kids in the glee club that gives the show its name. By my count, there are seven white kids, two African-Americans, two Asian-Americans and a Hispanic girl. Throw in the fact that one of the white kids is gay and another is in a wheelchair and that’s the kind of line-up that wins tolerance awards, right? (And this doesn’t even take into account a couple more ethnicities represented in the school’s teaching ranks.)

So what’s the problem? Quite simply, the show is about the white people. Exclusively. The writing staff has barely been able to come up with any dialogue, let alone a storyline, for any of the non-white kids. This leaves most of them with nothing to do but sing and dance in the group numbers. I noticed this in the first two episodes, but decided I should reserve judgment. But now, half a season has gone by and nothing has changed.
